Place the Ring on the fourth finger of her left hand

February 14, 2010

I didn’t realize it until recently but the wedding ring is worn on the right hand in many countries around the world.
The right hand is used to swear on the bible and take oaths and is associated with truth and strength.

Some believe that the origin of placing the wedding ring on the left hand is traced back to the myth of “vena amoris”.

This is the belief that there is a vein in the fourth finger of the left hand that leads directly to the heart, and that the heart is the seat of love and emotion.

This is of course scientifically inaccurate but may still be the source for placing the ring on the left hand.

I just read an interesting story about the Hope Diamond.

September 23, 2009

The Hope Diamond as you probably is the largest blue diamond in the world and it recently went on display at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.

Jeffrey Post , curator of the National Gem Collection, said that the Hope Diamond was to be displayed naked or without its ornate setting

The Hope diamond was donated to the Smithsonian in 1958 by Mr Harry Winston the famous jeweler and the stone is rumored to carry a course, however since its been at the Smithsonian it seems just to be bringing good luck.

The blue color of the stone comes from the element boron which is imbedded in the diamond itself and if exposed to ultraviolet lite it would cause the diamond to glow a red orange color.

Its amazing the amount of jewelry different people wear at different award shows.

I saw that the singer Pink wore 2.5 million dollars worth of diamonds to the most recent Grammy award show.

As you know most of the jewelry and cloths people bring to these events are on loan and serve as an advertisement.
