When you think about water safety the first thing that without doubt will pop into your head is drowning. Actually it is certainly one of the highest risks when swimming but there is more. Germs can contaminate pool water and can cause RWI - recreational water illnesses.

These illnesses are dispersed by drinking pool water that has been contaminated. Contamination is spread when someone's fecal matter gets in the water.

I know that the germs provoking these RWIs get destroyed by the chlorine in the pool water but that doesn't happen instantaneously after an accident. Some germs like Crypto can live more than a day in chlorinated water.

As babies and some toddlers are not entirely potty-trained most pools request that they wear a swim diaper approved by the CDC.

Swim diapers are not like regular diapers as they do not take in water. What they are supposed to do is to contain any solid waste in. Though it is true that swim diapers do not guarantee non-leakage on 100% if used with some precautions they will prevent the germ spread.

You can choose from disposable and reusable swimmer diapers to buy. The two have their advantages and disadvantages but I personally recommend using the reusables.

The reason I prefer washable swimming diapers is they are much cheaper in the long term though the initial investment may seem large. In fact your kid will need only two or three washable swim diapers so you can change them if there has been a poo accident.

You can wash them in the laundry with other clothes and towels. I wouldn't advise that you put your little one in a normal cloth diaper cover. Generally it will do the same work but the chlorine in the water will destroy the fabric.

If you detest the thought of washing a soiled diaper than you should go for the disposable alternative. Disposable swim diapers come in packs as regular and you throw them away after each use. I wouldn't recommend using a sposie more than once though it can survive several laundry cycles.

The negative aspect of using disposable swim diapers is they will need more room in your bag and they are actually costly.

When you go shopping for swim diapers you should keep some important checkpoints in your mind.

A great
swim diaper should be comfortable, easy as pie to put on and pull off when dirty and should be made of a soft fabric that won't give your baby a rash. My tip is to choose an adjustable swimming diaper, there are options with Velcro, snaps and strings so it fits snugly the baby's body.

Both reusable and disposable swim nappies have a great variety of colors and models to choose from. Especially if you have a baby girl you may find it to choose only one or two as they are so cutesy.
